If you have ensured your Kounta menu setup is compatible with Bopple, and enabled the Bopple add-on to create your venue, you should now use the Kounta Online Products section in back office to curate the menu that is sent to Bopple for display in the apps.
Bopple integrates with Kounta and uses the Online Products functionality to determine which categories, products and modifiers are included in your in-app menu, and how they appear to customers when they are viewing it.
If you've just connected Kounta and Bopple, we'd recommend ideally doing this before your first menu import in Bopple.
Using Kounta Online Products
Kounta allows you to control what parts of your menu are sent to integrated online ordering partners, such as Bopple. This is a separate section of your Kounta back office called Online Products and can be accessed on the link below:
The Online Products section has two views;
Preview where you can see how your products will be displayed in-app, and
Modify where you can amend this display.
Within each section, you can use the
˅ arrows to drill down to the lower level (ie. seeing what Option Sets are available on a product, and then what options are included in the Option Set).
1. Hide inappropriate or unnecessary menu items
A lot of venues have items in their POS that aren't suitable for customer display. This might include things like staff-only products and free/heavily discounted products for loyalty etc. Another common example is having a product called "Takeaway", used effectively as a note on takeaway orders - this doesn't need to be shown to customers in-app as other options exist within the ordering process.
You can hide these in your online menu using the
Show Online checkboxes in the
Modify section. This setting can be applied to entire product categories and option sets, or to individual products and options (use the arrows to drill down to different levels and review/configure as needed).

2. Review display names and add customer friendly names where needed
Display names for products, categories, option sets and options in-app should be clear and concise. If the name is too short (ie. abbreviations) the customer may not understand. If the name is too long it may not display well in-app.
Best practice menu setup:
- Don't abbreviate or use short-hand when naming menu items (eg. Long Black, not LB)
- Don't include detail in the product name that would be better placed in the description
- Don't use special characters/symbols to help with display/sorting on dockets or bump screens
If you are not following these best practices in your menu, you should use the
Customer Friendly Name field in Online Products to add a clear, concise name to the menu item for customer display. You can add these to product categories, products, option sets and options/modifiers. This won't change the name you see in the POS.
3. Add product descriptions for customer clarity
Descriptions need to be added in Kounta if they are to be shown in-app. This won't be necessary on every product, but for food and drink where varied ingredients might be used this is important so the customer is clear on what they are ordering.
Modify tab of
Online Products, add ingredients and any other info that will be useful to the customer in the
Description field beside each product, where appropriate.
4. Add product images to make the in-app menu pop
We strongly recommend that you add product images in Kounta for display in-app. It creates a much more visually appealing experience which impacts how a customer orders. As you can see below, it makes a big difference!

Import your Online Menu from Kounta
Once you've refined your menu using Online Products and added product images, you'll want to update Bopple with these changes.
Your Bopple menu will automatically sync with Kounta each day when your POS first comes online. However, if you are making changes during the day and would like the app to be updated immediately, you can force a sync at any time.
Head to manager.bopple.me and navigate to the IMPORT MENU screen, then click the
+ Import from Kounta button. Once the import runs, your Bopple menu will be in sync with your Kounta Online Products menu.
The final step to make your in-app menu look great is:
Arranging Kounta categories in Bopple product groups - this will make the in-app menu more organised and easier for your customers to navigate.
